General Committee

YouTube, Barrie, ON

Ooh, muffins!!! Did you enjoy your summer vacation? Because WE'RE BACK!!! General Committee, Monday night at 7 – and I'm almost afraid to use my outside voice, but it seems like an Agenda that even those bigmouths from the lower wards can't stretch past midnight. (I know! I know! OUTSIDE VOICE!!! Mea culpa...)

First up is the restoration and donation of historic train Engine 1531 to the Simcoe County Museum. What about the Caboose, darlings?

Next up is a renewal of the agreement with Tourism Barrie acting as collection agent for the Municipal Accommodation Tax – although how much they're collecting in these non-touristy times is a mystery.

And speaking of... next is a staff report on the Tourism Master Plan. And another on the Business Plan Status.

Mayor Lehman is sponsoring an item to make an agreement with Siva Creative to provide free website and promotional support to the Anti-Racism Task Force (you will recall the Task Force asked for some assistance with that during their presentation in the spring). That handsome Deputy Mayor Ward is sponsoring an item to invite Georgian College to give a presentation concerning their operations. And then...

Oh... sigh... we might hit the midnight mark after all, since you-know-who is sponsoring an item to ask Development Services to report on the restriction of payday loan establishments on Dunlop St. when the updated Zoning Bylaw is presented to Planning Committee. Sigh... I predict less than two hours for the first part of the meeting, another two for this one. Pack a sandwich, darlings, pack a sandwich!
